West Coast Monarch populations declined 86% last year and this vital insect may disappear entirely from California soon.   Unfortunately the preferred plant favored by Monarchs in California is the ugliest and hardest to come by milkweed:  Asclepias californica.   We can’t afford the rare and expensive seed to propagate this plant in mass at Ploughshares for our garden … or to resell, but you can help!
If you can find seed of, or a source of seed for Asclepias californica please send it to us at 677 West Ranger Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501 care of Ploughshares Nursery.

We are desperately searching for Asclepias californica.   If you find an inexpensive source, or care to donate seed, we and the Monarchs would really appreciate it.
