The Community Garden at Alameda Point Collaborative exists first and foremost to serve the resident-clients of Alameda Point Collaborative (APC). It is an integral part of APC’s broader mission to provide supportive housing and comprehensive services to individuals and families overcoming homelessness. The garden is a space for healing, learning, nourishment, and community building.
All contributions to the garden—whether through labor, materials, or produce—directly support the APC community. The food grown in the garden helps nourish residents, while garden-based programs provide therapeutic, educational, and vocational opportunities. Participation in the garden fosters self-sufficiency, pride, and deeper connections among residents.
This shared space is also open to community members who are committed to upholding the values of stewardship, collaboration, and equity. Gardeners are expected to contribute not only to the care of their own plots, but also to the health of the garden as a whole and the well-being of the APC community it serves.
Our garden is both an organization and an oasis of community in nature, a space for us to come together with each other and with those who pass through. It is a place for us to grow organic food and flowers sustainably, thus nourishing ourselves and reducing our impact on the planet. We find refuge here and strive to create beauty and tranquility for all to enjoy.
