The Wild Oyster Project works towards restoring native oysters to the San Francisco Bay, the largest estuary on the West Coast. Before industrial activities changed the Bay, there were billions of oysters that filtered the water and provided important habitat to other species. Today only a tiny fraction of the historical oyster population exists. Learn about how The Wild Oyster Project recycles oysters shells to build native oyster reefs and why this is so important in the face of climate change and sea level rise. We are inspired by community-focused oyster restoration projects around the United States and want you to love oysters as much as we do!
