Looking for a drought tolerant plant to fill the role of ‘exotic beauty’ in your East Bay garden?  How about this South African native plant, Leucospermum ‘Sunrise’.   Plant in full sun where soil drains instantly (think Alameda sand) and step back because this ‘looker’ will take off and entertain the entire neighborhood with it’s distinctive flowers.  Expect five feet growth in all directions and water when dry to establish.   Thinking about recreating a little piece of South Africa in your yard?  Try planting Dymondia as a ground cover and Leucadendron as a midsize companion plant.   Passing elephants will feel quite at home!
